Novel- is a long narrative in literary prose.
Novella- novella(a.k.a novel) is a written fictional prose narrative longer than a novelette, but shorter than a novel.
Short Story- is a work of fiction that is usually written in prose, often in narrative format.
Narrative Techniques- The methods involved in telling a story.
Point of view- refers to the way in which the author tells the story.
Characterization- The way in which a writer creates in a narrative so as to attract or repel our sympathy.
Setting- The time or place in which a play takes place.
Theme-The abstract subject of a work; its central idea or ideas which may or may not be explicit or obvious.
Plot- The plan of a literary work especially of dramas and novels.
Style- The characteristic manner in which a writer expresses his /her veiw in literary work.
Imagery-Is the used of literature to refer to the descriptive language that evokes sensory experience.
Symbol- Something which represents something else (often an idea or quality by analogy or association).
Irony-A manner by written or speaking one thing which in facts means another.
Satire- literature which exhibits or examines vice and folly and makes them appear ridiculous or contemptible.
Allusion-A figure of speech that makes a reference either directly or by implication.
Steam of consciousness- The attempt to convey all contents of characters mind-memory,sense perception, feelings, intuitions, thoughts- in relation to the steam of experience as it passes by often at random.
Interior Monology-An attempt to convey in words the process of conciousness or thought (as a means of narrating story).
Flashback-A sudden jump backwards in time to an earlier episode or scene in the story or novel play or film.
Foreshadowing- This is the use of hints,clues to suggest what will happen later in the literature.
Time frame-A period in which something should happen.
Motif- A current thematic element in an artistic or literary work.
Juxtaposition- When one theme or idea or person whatever is parallel to another.
