Question on Brother Man

Question 1:Name some conflicts in Brother Man and identify whether they are internal or external conflicts.(Minette,Brother Man, Papacita, Girlie, Cordelia, Jesmina and Nathaniel)?

Answer: Some of the conflicts in Brother Man are:

Brother Man: He had external conflict with Cordelia because he didn't heal her son and he also had conflict with Bro Ambo because he did not keep his personal items until the police had leave.

Minette: She had external conflicts with Brother Man because she want Bother Man to be her husband/lover but he only saw her as a daughter. She also had external conflict with Papacita he was interfering with her she try to ignore him but still lead him on at times.

Papacita And Girlie: The two had external conflict with each other because of their dysfunctional and abusive relationship which lead to the death of Papacita.

Papacita I think had internal conflict because he believe that he was better than other people when he was not.

Nathaniel: Had both internal and external conflict because he could not accept the child his woman had with a different man and he could not fine in his heart to forgive her.

Jesmina: Had external conflict because her mind was on her sister and nephew when she was on her date with Shine. She also had such conflict around her when her sister started to behave crazy she was wondering what could cause this.

Cordelia: Had internal conflict because she took on he sick son health and went crazy instead of helping him by taking him to the doctor.

Question 2: Define internal and external conflicts?

Answer: The definition for internal and external conflicts are: 

Internal Conflict- this occur  inside the mind rather than out it could be in an organization, country or person,this is an inside problem.

External Conflict- is a connection with the outside of the person,organization or country where two or more person may be against and outside force or problem.

Question 3: There are three type of Irony list them?

Answer: The three type of Irony are:

• Verbal Irony- A contradiction of expectation between what is said and what is meant.
  

• Dramatic Irony- A situation in which the audience knows something about present or future circumstances that the  character doesn't know.

Situational Irony- A contradiction of expectation between what might be expected and what actually occurs often connected to a fatalistic or pessimistic view of life.     

  Question 4: Look at Brother Man discuss how irony is played out?


Answer: Irony plays a major part in this book because everyone is seen in one way in the beginning of the book and then towards or at the end you see different persons  the only person who stayed true to Brother Man was Nathaniel, Minette and Jesmina. Everyone else in the book more or less took Brother Man help and then betrayed him and hated him in the end.
